Mr Prabal Mishra is a Consultant Paediatric Surgeon and Urologist at Wellington Regional Children’s Hospital, where he holds a permanent consultant post. He is also a Senior Clinical Lecturer with the University of Otago, Wellington. Mr Mishra has also recently commenced work at Crest Hospital in Palmerston North.

Originally from the Fiji Islands, Prabal completed his schooling at Palmerston North Boy’s High before graduating from the University of Otago. He undertook his specialist paediatric surgery training with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.

His subspeciality interests include minimally invasive thoracic, hepatobiliary and urology. He completed further advanced training at Birmingham Children’s Hospital, UK, where he gained a fellowship in Paediatric Hepatobiliary and Multivisceral Transplantation. While abroad he also acquired further subspeciality training in Paediatric Thoracoscopic and Robotic Surgery.

Outside of surgery, Prabal enjoys family life with his wife and three children and is a passionate rugby supporter.
